The SPF35 lotion is resistant to water and sweat and is said to be ideal for sporting activities in extreme conditions of wind, sun, water, cold and heat.
It also contains a moisturising filter and vitamin E to help protect the skin against damage from the sun.
Retailing at ¤7.60, the 50ml tube comes with a cord attachment, so it can be worn around the neck. Also available in the range are an SPF15 lotion and an aftersun cream.
There is loyalty among sports enthusiasts to the Isostar brand name, so it could also benefit from cross-promotions on its drinks and bars. This is not the first time the Isostar brand has moved into the non-food arena. In 2001, Isostar Relax Bath Oil was launched in Switzerland. Again it targeted sportsmen and women, as it was marketed under the Isostar Sports Care sub-brand and positioned as relief for aching muscles.
Only a handful of other brands have appeared in both food and non-food. For example, the Evian water brand extended into the Evian Affinity skincare range in France.
Other sports-related brands have made the transition. Adidas appears on a wide range of toiletries, while Reebok, in conjunction with Clearly Canadian, entered the bottled water market in North America with the Reebok Fitness line of fortified waters.
