Petfood manufacturer Pets Choice has swooped for several brands from collapsed wholesale petfood supplier and distributor Kennelpak.
Breederpack, Kennelboy, Kennelmaid, Duchess and Dylan will now be part of the Blackburn-headquartered company’s offering after Pets Choice struck a deal with Kennelpak administrator BDO.
Founded in 1988, Pets Choice supplies customers in the grocery, independent and pet speciality sectors with its range of brands and own-label products, including Webbox, Bob Martin, Felight, TastyBone and Vet’s Kitchen.
The business added to its portfolio in 2024 with the acquisition of vegan dogfood brand Hownd, extending its reach in the premium end of the category.
Kennelpak was placed into administration by former private equity owner Endless in July, with 51 jobs lost.
Pets Choice CEO Tony Raeburn said: “It is obviously sad Kennelpak recently went into administration. However, I am delighted that we have rescued a number of established pet trade brands, which we will be immediately reviewing. We will be looking to resurrect key products ASAP.
“We will be contacting customers soon and look forward to welcoming new customers to Pets Choice, as well as being able to offer these brands to our extensive and loyal customer base, helping us to further consolidate our position as a leader in the petcare industry.”
BDO previously sold Kennelpak’s Yakers dog chew brand to PE-backed platform Assisi Pet Care in a pre-pack deal on the firm’s appointment as administrator.
