
Poundland is partnering with The Retail Trust to provide its 12,000 staff with better access to mental health support.
Poundland workers will get access The Retail Trust’s wellbeing helpline, counselling services and financial hardship grants.
Managers for the variety discounter will undertake CPD-accredited training to respond better to staff needs.
Staff will also be provided with resources to cope with with abuse such as verbal or physical attacks by shoppers.
“Our colleagues do an amazing job, but we know working in retail, especially on the shop floor, can at times be challenging,” said Poundland MD Barry Williams.
“We’re committed to doing all we can to support them and we look forward to the resources The Retail Trust will bring.”

Retail Trust CEO Chris Brook-Carter said: “We’re looking forward to helping thousands more retail workers across the country live happier and healthier lives thanks to our work with Poundland this year.

Poundland joins over 200 major retailers to work with The Retail Trust, which was founded in 1832 and exists to support retail workers.
