Premium on-demand delivery app Zapp says it has already signed up “thousands” of users to its new subscription service.

The Zapp+ subscription offering gives members an “unmatched, industry-first” 10% credit-back deal on all orders across the range above £30, as well as free delivery on orders over £15.

“Our customers told us they want their loyalty rewarded with extra credit to spend while still benefiting from fast, on-demand, 24/7 delivery,” said Kathy Lee, director of growth and strategy at Zapp.

“Zapp+ is the answer. It will help busy people get great-value daily essentials and luxury favourites delivered in minutes – so they can spend less time shopping and more time enjoying life.”

Zapp+ costs £4.99 a month, which the company pointed out was less than similar aggregator app subscription schemes such as Deliveroo’s Plus Gold, priced at £7.99, Deliveroo Plus Diamond which is £19.99, and Uber One, which costs £5.99 a month.

Zapp users can try the new loyalty programme for free for one month.

The company said customers using Zapp+ can expect to save an average of £300 a year.

Zapp launched in late 2020 with a single dark store – or ‘Zappstore’ – in west London, and now operates several micro-fulfilment centres across the capital. It was one of a wave of rapid grocery players launching in the UK at the time, and has since survived swingeing consolidation of the market, which saw rivals Getir, Weezy, Jiffy, Gorillas and Fancy all acquired or shuttered.

In 2023, it undertook a major rebrand to concentrate its focus on affluent, central London customers.

Zapp’s luxury-focused in-app ‘Zapp Boutique’ store features a range of brands such as LVMH, Daylesford, Apple, Bamford and Dr Barbara Sturm. In July, it listed a £13,000 vodka on its app for delivery in as little as 20 minutes. Zapp said it was “the most expensive spirit ever made available for on-demand delivery in the UK”.

Fortnum & Mason in March this year announced it was “joining the on-demand delivery movement”, listing 33 SKUs for delivery “in minutes” on Zapp. A “carefully curated” range of products, including the retailer’s signature loose-leaf teas, biscuits and hampers, are now available for Zapp customers across London, 24 hours a day.
