Rapid convenience grocer Gopuff has introduced a new feature to its website so customers can watch a live feed of their order being packed in its fulfilment centres.
The update, which launched in the US late last week and is coming to the UK “soon”, also allows those using the service to track “real-time packing updates”, which provides item-by-item packing updates along with the picker’s name.
The aim was to offer a “more engaging, trustworthy, and ultimately, more valuable relationship with every customer” the company said. “Everything we do at Gopuff is for our customers, and this initiative was no different.”
Some of the new capabilities on the website will be carried over to Gopuff’s app in the coming months.
As well as packing updates – an example given as an alert reading ‘John is packing your bananas now’ – the new website also features an “intelligent storefront” in which items and categories appear based on each individual user’s order history, alongside personalised recommendations.
Customers will also receive customised offers on their birthday.
Other new features include “hyper-local insights” so customers can see what items are popular in their area, statistics about their city’s order history, and other customers in their city placing Gopuff orders displayed on a live heatmap.
Further, based on their IP address, customers will see only what’s available in their exact location, “eliminating frustrating product replacements”.
“Instant isn’t just what we do, it’s in our DNA,” said Yakir Gola, Gopuff’s co-founder and co-CEO.
“That’s why we built our new web experience: to make instant shopping effortless,” he added. “With a clean, elevated design and 5,000 products at your fingertips, we’re delivering the fastest, most reliable, and most affordable shopping experience in the world. And as we continue to innovate, our focus remains the same: being the very best at serving our customers.”
Gopuff launched in the UK in 2021, having acquired UK rapid grocers Fancy and Dija.
In May, Gopuff launched a storefront on Amazon.co.uk, offering “thousands” of grocery products for delivery to customers within an hour. The 24-hour service suggests order arrival could be “as fast as 15 minutes”.
In February, The Grocer revealed that Gopuff was picking items from Morrisons stores and delivering direct to app users. While the quick-commerce player typically picks from its own network of dark stores, dispatching baskets to arrive at customer doorsteps “in just 15 minutes” the trial sees Gopuff picking, packing and dispatching orders made through its app from three Morrisons’ supermarkets in London, Newcastle, and Watford.
