Kombucha brand Remedy has launched a prebiotic soda in the UK.
Called Sodaly, the line has launched on Ocado in Pineapple, Raspberry, Yuzu Lemon and Watermelon flavours (rsp: £1.95/25ml). It will also roll out on Amazon and in Holland & Barrett in the coming weeks.
The drinks – which were “already a bestseller” in Australia according to Remedy – are made from a base of apple cider vinegar with 100% natural ingredients and no sugar.
They offered “gut-friendly prebiotics” to aid digestion, as well as added benefits such as “supporting immunity and promoting healthier skin”, the supplier claimed.
“The launch of Sodaly marks an exciting chapter for Remedy and for the UK better-for-you drinks sector,” said Ian Hadley, UK commercial director at Remedy Drinks UK & EU. “We’ve already proven that consumers are hungry for healthier soft drinks that don’t compromise on taste, with cutting sugar now a top priority for UK shoppers.
“Remedy is the UK’s bestselling kombucha, more than double the size of its nearest competitor, and that success gives us real confidence as we expand into soda.”
Functional drinks had “seen rapid growth over the past five years” with the UK kombucha category now worth over £42m and growing at nearly 30% year on year, Hadley said, citing NIQ data.
The launch of Sodaly would enable Remedy to “expand beyond kombucha while staying true to our core philosophy”, he added.
“We’re confident it will resonate just as strongly with UK shoppers.”
