Female-founded pasta brand Sunny & Luna has landed a supermarket debut with Sainsbury’s.
The brand, created in 2022 by Italian ex-fashion model Giulia Berretti, has rolled three SKUs into 365 Sainsbury’s stores this week.
They are: Cauliflower Gnocchi, Spinach Gnocchi and an all-new Pumpkin Gnocchi (rsps: £4.25/350g).
The trio contained 50% vegetables and offered “a nourishing twist on Italian comfort food”, said Sunny & Luna.
“This Sainsbury’s launch takes Sunny & Luna from a challenger to a true UK household option,” said Berretti. “Growing up making pasta with my grandmother in Milan ignited my love for Italian food. Later, as a fashion model, I saw how carb-heavy foods like pasta were often demonised, especially among young women.
“Sunny & Luna was born to change that – to give people the Italian comfort food they love, with the nutrition they need to thrive. Getting that into millions of homes every week is a huge moment for our mission.
“Our entire range is made in Italy using authentic Italian recipes and real ingredients, with no preservatives, additives or nasties.”
Sunny & Luna’s wider range – which includes Lentil Tagliatelle made with lentils, chickpeas and peas and Spinach Ravioli made with fresh spinach – is available at Ocado, Whole Foods Market, Planet Organic, Zapp and independent delis and grocers across the UK.
