The Wholesale Group has experienced a rise in both value and volume six months after its official launch at the beginning of the year.

The buying group, which represents more than 12% of UK wholesale with a collective annual turnover of £4.47bn, reported 2.47% growth in value and a 2.13% rise in volume in the first half of 2025.

The Wholesale Group was formed in January, merging Confex and Fairway Foodservice. Speaking with The Grocer at the time, MD Tom Gittins said the launch had caused “quite the stir”.

“I think our entry has shaken up the industry, it’s provoked others to be interested in what we’re doing,” he said in January.

Speaking of the group’s year-to-date figures, Gittins explained: “We’re absolutely delighted that we are delivering on our promises to achieve growth for both members and suppliers.

“At our launch, we announced that The Wholesale Group was the buying group the sector needs, and we are delighted to provide an efficient, powerful route to market for suppliers, while celebrating and championing the incredible family businesses that make up our membership.”

The figures were announced at the group’s charity golf day yesterday (10 June), which looked to connect key wholesalers and work towards plans for the second half of 2025.
