Aggregator apps like Uber Eats are seen as a vital to Waitrose convenience store growth

Waitrose shoppers will now be able to access offers on grocery orders via Uber Eats, after the supermarket rolled out loyalty perks to the on-demand platform for the first time.

From today, MyWaitrose members will now receive the same offers that run in-store and online on their on-demand orders, if they link their MyWaitrose and Uber Eats accounts.

Waitrose does not currently offer any form of loyalty pricing. Instead, MyWaitrose shoppers receive a range of personalised coupons on the items they buy most frequently, as well as a rotating range of select discounts, for example 20% off Waitrose cheese counters on Thursdays.

The expansion would give shoppers “greater value alongside convenience”, it said. Uber Eats is currently live in more than 250 of Waitrose’s 329 stores, and lists around 18,000 SKUs.

“Our on-demand partnerships have enabled us to bring our quality products to new food-loving customers,” said Laura Burbedge, Waitrose director of online.

“We now want to provide greater value to customers ordering via Uber Eats. To start making savings, customers just need to link their MyWaitrose account to their Uber Eats account.”

Despite being relatively late to the game in partnering with the aggregator apps compared with the rest of the sector, Waitrose sees its partnerships wit Uber Eats, Deliveroo and most recently Just Eat as a vital channel for its growth aims. The channel is seen as particularly important as it grows its convenience store estate over the next four years.

At the same time, the supermarket has been working to improve the perks offered to MyWaitrose members.

On-demand orders increased 110% this year compared with last, Waitrose claims. Fresh berries, grapes and chicken are among the most common items bought.

Customers can link their accounts via the Uber Eats app, by entering their MyWaitrose loyalty number via the Waitrose store. It is the first time Waitrose has added loyalty offers to any of its on-demand partnerships.

“At Uber Eats, we only succeed when our partners do,” said Alex Troughton, grocery and retail regional general manager at Uber Eats UK.

“That’s why we’re constantly investing in innovation that helps our merchants grow and makes life easier for our customers. Our partnership with Waitrose is all about combining quality with convenience, and now, with offers for MyWaitrose members, we’re adding even more value to the experience.”

It is the latest retailer to begin integrating loyalty schemes and aggregator channels. Co-op was the first, when it began offering Co-op member prices on Deliveroo orders in February 2025.

The next month, Morrisons began enabling loyalty members to accrue Morrisons More points when shopping via Deliveroo. Boots added Advantage Card points to Uber Eats and Deliveroo in March.
