Peter Butler is the new managing director of specialist distributor Euro Brand Foods, taking over from Stephen Barlow, who has moved into the position of CEO.
Butler joins the Northampton company - which distributes brands including Hershey’s, Illy coffee and Campbell’s Soup - from his role as vice president of grocery at the Ceuta Group, a global outsourced sales, marketing & logistics solutions provider to the health & beauty and fmcg food & drink industries.
With 27 years’ experience in the food & drink sector, Butler began his career in the autumn of 1989 at United Biscuits. There, he reached the position of sales controller, before leaving in early 1997 for a job at The Snack Factory as sales & marketing director.
Two years later, he joined SHS Group, where he spent 16 years, playing a key role in SHS GB becoming a leading outsource sales specialist, and driving significant sales growth of group-owned brands and and partner brands. His final seven years at the Shloer owner were as managing director of the GB sales & marketing operation.
In his role at Euro Brand Foods, Butler will be responsible for delivering growth and communicating the benefits of partnering with a specialist sales distributor. He will also work on enhancing customer partnerships across all trade channels, and ensuring the business has long-term plans “with the objective of exceeding brand suppliers’ expectation”.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the team at EFB to enhance the growth of the business and identify new and innovative brands for the UK market,” Butler said.
“While the market here is challenging, it is clear our customers are receptive to brands that provide a point of difference and new energy to categories.”
