Sultan will help bolster the Modern Milkman team to employ the latest innovations and technology to accelerate sustainability efforts and help the nation to reduce waste

Anwar Sultan has been appointed chief growth & commercial officer at Modern Milkman, following the closure of its latest funding round.

Sultan will help bolster the online delivery service – which sells a raft of sustainably-sourced groceries, in addition to milk – to employ the latest innovations and technology to accelerate sustainability efforts and reduce waste.

He is described as having a “passion for developing digital and growth programmes whilst coaching, developing and building high-performance teams to drive and deliver business success”.

“As he takes up the role of chief growth and commercial officer, he brings with him experiences from around the world that will bolster our offering here in the UK and drive our global ambitions,” said Modern Milkman CEO and founder Simon Mellin.

The Lancashire-based delivery service recently announced it had raised a total of £50m in funding following the closure of its Series C investment round.

Sultan will lead the business’s UK and global operations and help drive the Modern Milkman’s growth and commercial strategies.

Sultan has previously worked both in-house and agency household names with a strong retail background. He was formerly chief digital & strategy officer for Ello Group where he spent nearly five years as a board director, leading digital, technology, product, marketing, data, and group strategy.

Prior to that he worked as global marketing director at The Hut Group, spearheading marketing, e-commerce and data across the group’s portfolio of beauty and own brands globally.

“I feel now is a fantastic time to join as the brand continues to go from strength to strength and I am overjoyed to be playing a part in the incredible projects that are in the pipeline for 2023,” said Sultan.

“The challenge of making our future greener and cleaner by changing consumer habits was just too good to turn down!”
