Tim Fairs joins McColls

Tim Fairs joins McColls from Clintons

McColl’s Retail Group has appointed Tim Fairs to the newly created role of customer director.

Fairs will join the convenience retail chain on 29 January with a brief to lead the customer agenda - a key pillar of the group’s strategy.

He joins from card and gifting retailer Clintons, where he is currently VP marketing and e-commerce. During his time there Fairs led the transformation of the customer offer and customer experience programme.

He spent six years at Clintons, before which he was head of marketing for Dixons Carphone for over four years. Fairs will report directly to the McColl’s chief executive Jonathan Miller.

“I am delighted to welcome Tim to the business. His skills and experience will be a great asset as we continue to enhance and expand our market-leading convenience offering on our journey to become your neighbourhood’s favourite shop,” said Miller.

“At McColl’s we are proud to serve over five million customers every week, and as our first customer director, Tim will play an important role in continuing to embed our value of putting the customer first, particularly as we roll out the new Safeway range at McColl’s in 2018.”

Last autumn, McColl’s announced a new sole supply contract with Morrisons. Part of that deal gives McColl’s the exclusive rights to sell the resurrected Safeway brand for a year. The range has now gone live in the first 25 MColl’s stores with a staggered rollout set to commence in the next couple of weeks.
