Nisa has named Amanda Jones as its new chief operating officer.

Jones, who has previously worked in senior roles for both Marks & Spencer and also for Waitrose, where she developed new retail formats, joins the retail buying group on 29 April.

She will be responsible for day-to-day operations at Nisa, including commercial, trading and member development, and will report to CEO Neil Turton.

Nisa has recreated the role. It has not had a chief operating officer since Turton moved up to CEO from COO in 2006.

Turton said Jones’ appointment would allow him to concentrate on strategy and selling, as well as giving him time to work on key projects.

“The appointment of Amanda will enable me to further drive the strategic direction of the company, while Amanda and the senior management team will manage the day-to-day operations,” he explained. “We are very pleased to welcome Amanda to the team at Nisa and we look forward to working together to ensure the company’s success is maintained through the implementation of our strong business plan.”

Jones added: “I see it as an exciting time to join the business as it embarks on the next stage of its transformational journey. I very much look forward to working closely with everyone at the member support centre and the independent members to drive the continued successful growth of Nisa.”

She is the second new recruit at Nisa since January when chairman Christopher Baker joined.
