Haribo is to invest £35m into its Castleford site, which will cover the installation of a purpose-built warehouse and an additional production and packaging line.
The warehouse, which will be operational in 2026, will allow Haribo to manage increased volumes of its finished product, along with raw materials and packaging, while safeguarding 600 jobs across both of its West Yorkshire sites.
It comes after Haribo’s revenues soared another 7.7% (on top of a 24% jump in 2023) to £291.6m in the year ended 31 December 2024, according to newly filed Companies House accounts.
The category-leading sugar confectionery company had a market share of 22.6% in 2024, with four of the 10 bestselling products being its Haribo or Maoam lines. Its operating profits were up £7m to £40.6m.
“We’re proud of Haribo UK’s performance in 2024, and to once again be the most popular choice for consumers within our category,” said Haribo UK & Ireland MD Jon Hughes.
“Through ongoing investment in our production sites and continued innovation across our treats, stores, people, and community initiatives, we continue to bring more moments of childlike happiness and to be part of Yorkshire’s proud next chapter of food manufacturing excellence.”
Haribo will return as headline sponsor of the Pontefract Liquorice Festival, taking place on 13 July, for its second year.
Outside Yorkshire, it will open its first Scotland store, in Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre, later this year.
