Edible oil and ethnic food company KTC (Edibles) has announced the retirement of sales director Mike Baldrey after 36 years.
Baldrey will leave the Midlands-based company, which is the UK’s largest private manufacturer and distributor of oils and fats, in April.
During his tenure, the business has grown from sales worth £4m to a current value of £235m.
It supplies 250 million litres a year of cooking oils and fats to the food industry while importing other key commodities, including canned chickpeas and tomatoes, lentils, rice and spices.
“With nearly 50 years’ experience in the food business cooking it, eating it and selling it for a living, I think there is only growing it to go!” Baldrey said.
He now plans to grow his new venture, Incline Foods, which trades food ingredients, advises on food issues and offers industry consulting services, basing himself in Worcestershire. Baldrey said he was also considering writing a book.
“I have had an exciting time building KTC with George and Jindy Khera, now another chapter beckons. Having worked with many enterprising people over the years I leave with many great memories.”
