Superdrug has become the latest retailer to support the NHS and vulnerable people with donations during the coronavirus crisis.
The high street pharmacist said it had donated more than 56,000 personal care and food products to food banks and hospitals nationwide.
The donations include 14,500 essential personal care products for frontline NHS staff. Frontline workers in 20 hospital wards around the country have received ‘care parcels’.
Each parcel contains 10 items including Superdrug own-brand shower gel, haircare and oral care products and heavy-duty moisturiser. The retailer said it had listened to workers to establish that many suffered damaged skin on face and hands after wearing tight PPE for long shifts and regular handwashing.
Superdrug has also donated 5,000 products including toiletries to nurses working at the NHS Nightingale Hospital.
Meanwhile 30,000 essential food products had been donated to a London food bank and 5,200 moisturising products to the charity Beauty Banks, Superdrug said. The moisturiser will be distributed to NHS staff in Beauty Bank’s Helping Hands campaign.

“Sending wellness parcels is just a small thing we can do to support the NHS and other key workers. We’d like to thank all of our NHS staff, carers and key workers around the country for the incredible jobs they do each day, to keep us all safe.”
