Subway plans to grow its stores from 109 to 130 across Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight

Subway plans to open over 20 new stores and create 200 new jobs by the end of next year to drive its expansion on the South Coast.

It plans to grow its stores from 109 to 130 across Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight, and is seeking more Subway franchisees.

“We have ambitious plans to grow the Subway brand across Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and Isle of Wight, so I am really keen to hear from local people who are looking to fulfil their dreams of owning their own business and becoming their own boss,” said regional development agent Mark Bradley.

“The Subway brand is the number one QSR (quick service restaurant) brand in the world and offers an excellent opportunity for would-be entrepreneurs. Franchisees benefit from operating in a tried and tested system, with excellent training and support provided.”

Local Subway franchisees have already provided over 1,000 jobs across the region. Subway opened its first UK store in Brighton over 20 years ago.

Bradley added: “We believe there is still plenty of room to grow the Subway brand across Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and Isle of Wight and will be focusing our development on standalone units, drivethru sites and non-traditional locations, such as Subway stores within hospitals and transport hubs. To succeed, we need the right people, with the right blend of teamwork, leadership and work ethic to become new franchisees and help us deliver our ambitious growth target.”

This follows Subway’s 2,500th store opening with its new fresh forward design in August. It comes as part of plans to increase UK and Ireland stores to 3,000 by 2020 and create 5,000 jobs.
