Selfridges has claimed a UK first by adding Easter eggs made from gelato to its seasonal lineup for 2019.
Following the success of its Avo-lato last year, the upmarket retailer launched the egg on 19 March.
A Belgian chocolate shell contains mango and passionfruit sorbet as the yolk and white chocolate gelato for the white.
The handmade product is available in various pastel, spring-inspired colours and served in an edible baked butter kataifi nest. It is exclusively available from the Snowflake Luxury Gelato counter at Selfridges in London and costs £7.95.
“Following the huge success of the Avo-lato we’re excited to be launching Snowflake’s Gelato Easter Eggs exclusively in Selfridges,” fresh foods buyer Ben Suleyman told The Grocer. “The quality of Snowflake’s ingredients, and the skill that has gone into these fun, realistic-looking gelato eggs is sure to make them very popular with customers.”
