The retailer will stock products from the Waitrose Essential and Duchy Organic brands

Waitrose has expanded its international presence this week with its first exports to Jordan.

The move comes after the retailer reached an agreement with Cozmo, a chain of five supermarkets in the country’s capital, Amman.

Cozmo, which opened its first store in 2003, is one of the leading supermarkets in Amman, selling a variety of local and imported brands.

Waitrose is the only UK supermarket brand to be stocked by the chain, with customers able to choose from its Essential and Duchy Organic brands, as well as the free-from range.

The shops will offer a wide range of products, including pasta, rice, pasta sauce, dried fruits, bottled sauces, mustards and dressings, biscuits and coffee.

Barry Delehanty, head of B2B growth and development at Waitrose, said: “It’s incredibly encouraging that the reputation of Waitrose & Partners, and the quality of our products, continues to grow outside the UK and bring our brand to a new audience.”

Imad Bukhari, CEO of The Group, which owns Cozmo, added: “At Cozmo, our customers know when they walk through the doors that they will find the best selection of goods and produce available.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Waitrose & Partners, who are renowned for their commitment to providing quality products, to bring the citizens of Jordan this incredible range of top-grade European foods and flavours.”
