Sainsbury’s has awarded £1m in R&D grants to its farmers and growers.

The retailer will fund 13 agriculture research projects, ranging from animal welfare to supply chain practices and NPD.

“By helping farmers and growers to realise the potential of the innovative ideas they have and look at ways to adopt existing technologies and research, we can take real steps towards new and more efficient ways of working,” said director of Sainsbury’s brand Judith Batchelar.
