The first ever Freedom Food-certified farmed rainbow trout has gone on sale in Sainsbury’s this weekend.
The Loch Trout Fillets will be available on fresh fish counters and in pre-pack in 400 stores from Saturday (5 July).
They are produced for Sainsbury’s by Dawn Fresh and reared based on welfare standards developed by the RSPCA.
The RSPCA first published welfare standards for farmed rainbow trout in February..
