It is the first partnership between the cash-to-bitcoin vendor and a franchise member of a major UK convenience store brand

A Nisa Local in South Wales has partnered with FastBitcoins to allow customers to pay for shopping using digital currency.

The partnership is the first to be agreed between the cash-to-bitcoin vendor and a franchise member of a major UK convenience store brand.

Nisa Local in Barry on the south coast of Wales provides a full grocery range, as well as being the region’s largest stockist of vape and CBD products.

It hopes the partnership with FastBitcoins will drive new and existing footfall through a unique offering, capitalising on growing bitcoin demand.

“In the convenience sector you are only going to be successful if you stand out from your competitors,” said franchisee Arwinder Singh.

“One of the ways we do this is by providing great products and customer service. But what puts us way ahead of the pack is offering services that other stores just don’t have, which can drive additional footfall from new and existing customers. Our vape shop is one way we are doing this, and our partnership with FastBitcoins will now allow us to offer yet another in-demand product to capitalise further.”

FastBitcoins MD Danny Brewster added that since launching the business in February, it now operated in seven countries across 56 locations.

“These locations are all seeing strong volumes from their bitcoin offerings as the general public become more educated around bitcoin and seek safe and easy exposure to it. As this happens, we anticipate more big brands and businesses will want to partner with us to differentiate their existing offerings and capitalise on the growing demand for bitcoin. This partnership is a great sign that stores are just as excited by the idea of bitcoin as we are.”
