You provided our shopper with all 33 items this week. How do you ensure good availability? It is a real team effort and a massive focus for all the colleagues here. We have daily team huddles in the morning in which we can discuss any issues and how we are trading. We monitor this throughout the day and will look again in the evening as well as factoring in things like warm weather and making sure we have all the stock we need.
The store also delivered a great result in terms of customer service - what do you do in terms of ensuring staff engagement? I’ve only been at the store here for three months but a big focus of my time has been ensuring the service we provide is excellent and the customer journey is as good as it can be. We have a great team of colleagues at the store - fresh food is a big part of the business and as such the colleagues play a key role in bringing that alive for customers. They take a lot of pride in this and have lots of passion for delivering the best possible customer service.
The results were out this week. Is there a feeling in-store that Morrisons is really beginning to turn the corner? Definitely. Morale is heading in the right direction and I think we have great business at the moment. Last week we cut the price of more than 800 more lines and customers have certainly noticed. Sales at this store are heading in the right direction.
Are you looking to take advantage of the mini-heatwave forecast this weekend? Absolutely. We’ve got some great deals across our new barbecue range. There are some great new products across poultry, butchery and our prepared meats.
And that should work well as we go into the summer, especially with Wales in the Euros? That’s right, we are all looking forward to the competition, especially as it’s the first time Wales have qualified for around 60 years.
