Liverpool’s Bold Street

Internet business Healthy Foods Online is opening its first bricks-and-mortar store in Liverpool after spotting a “gap in the market” for its proposition in the north of England.

The 10,000 sq ft store is due to open in March under the brand name LIV and will target young professionals keen to lead a healthy lifestyle.

The store will sell the same food and beauty brands as its online proposition, including the English Tea Shop, Zeo, Rude Health and Avalon Organics, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables and produce from its in-store bakery.

The range will include a high number of organic, free-from and fairtrade products.

The store’s location on Bold Street - near Liverpool Central station, which attracts 50,000 passengers per day - means the company aims to get footfall of 110 to 120 people per hour.

Healthy Foods Online will be promoting the launch through PR, radio advertising and engaging with Liverpool bloggers.

Marketing executive Ashleigh Coleman said there was a “gap in the market” for health and wellbeing stores in the north of England compared with the south. There is a Holland & Barrett in Liverpool city centre, but Coleman stressed that LIV had the added selling point of being local and community-focused.

LIV is partnering with the city council to promote recycling, will donate to local homeless charity The Whitechapel Centre and encourage staff to get involved with charities and initiatives through volunteering and promotion.

Healthy Foods Online has 25,000 monthly visitors.
