The 38% abv aniseed-based drink will now be available in cranberry and cinnamon, both priced in line with its other variants such as the black sambuca, Luxardo Passione Nera (£10-12.99 for 70cl).
Passione Rossa is a red Italian cranberry liqueur based on sambuca, while Luxardo Passione Ambra is a brown-coloured liqueur with a hint of cinnamon. Catherine Rigby, Luxardo’s brand manager at distributor Cellar Trends, said: “Both are set to inspire a whole new wave of creative cocktails and add colour, sophisticated taste and Italian style.”
The brand will also feature in consumer promotional activity and initiatives next year, focusing on its popularity as a cocktail ingredient as well as a traditional Italian after-dinner tipple. Off-trade consumer promotions next year include competitions to win a holiday to Venice.
Brewer Fuller Smith & Turner sees a good future for the off-trade brands it has inherited from Hampshire-based brewer Gales, according to its beer and brands director John Roberts. Speaking at the company’s interim results, Roberts said there was strong potential to grow bottled Gales brands such as HSB in the off-trade.
Asda and Tesco have launched a festive price war on Chablis. Tesco is offering 37% off a case of six bottles of its Finest Chablis, working out at £4.74 per bottle. Asda is offering 50% off Chablis Paul Salignon, down to £4.98 a bottle, and 10% off a case of six botles of Asda Petit Chablis, down to £5.07 a bottle.
