Shaun Heyes has been appointed head of customer marketing (off-trade) and category marketing at Scottish & Newcastle UK. Heyes, who has more than 15 years’ experience in the drinks industry with S&N UK, moves up from the role of head of category marketing.

The Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber has appointed Colin Rich as operations director. Rich joins the group from the Youth Hostel Association, where he was head of food and beverage operations. Rich will be tasked with increasing membership and selling services to the wider food and drink sector.

Graham Calder, deputy chairman of PZ Cussons, is set to reduce his hours to part-time from 1 December. Meanwhile, Sam Plant, head of corporate services on the manufacturer’s operating board of directors, will also take on the role of company secretary.

Drinks giant Diageo has made several appointments to its executive committee. Coming on board are: chief customer officer Ron Anderson; chief marketing officer Andy Fennell; MD for Africa Nick Blazquez; MD for global supply David Gosnell; MD for Latin America & Caribbean Randy Millian; corporate relations director Ian Wright; MD for Continental Europe Gilbert Ghostine; and president for Diageo USA Larry Schwartz. Meanwhile, Rob Malcolm, president of global marketing, sales & innovation, is to retire in December, while Ivan Menezes has been appointed chairman for Asia Pacific in addition to his current role as president of Diageo North America.

Ben Cahill has joined The Co-operative Group from Lords Wines as a wine buyer for Burgundy, Rhône, South of France, Spain, Central and South American wines. Edward Robinson has also joined the society from Majestic Wine as a junior wine buyer for German wines.

Tesco employs 154% more staff over the age of 50 than it did 10 years ago, it claims. The 54,545 workers over the age of 50 make up 20% of the supermarket chain’s workforce in Britain, up from 13% in 1998. And 14,829 over-60s now account for more than 5% of the workforce.
