Spectacular demand in the sandwich sector has led to the development of a new £20m factory for Samworth Brothers. The company behind Ginsters has begun work on a 20 acre site off the M1 near Leicester which will create up to 400 jobs. Group chief executive Brian Stein said the new 48,000 sq ft plant would produce sandwiches and salads, both of which have experienced considerable growth. "The sandwich business has been spectacular and we need more capacity." The development should be completed by February next year and will also include space for further expansion in the future, Stein added. {{NEWS }}
