JJ Foodservice has invested more than £2m to install solar panels on the roofs of all nine of its UK branches.
The business said it was in the process of installing over 2,000 panels in the Basingstoke, Bristol, Leicester, and Dagenham branches.
This is in excess of the 2,000 panels the business has already installed at its Enfield and Sidcup depots.
The business said solar panels would be easy to install, require low maintenance and can help to generate significant cost savings while meeting its environmental targets.
The new panels are expected to generate around 1,100,000 kWh of energy annually, the equivalent of £374,000 of electricity at the current unit price.
The company said additional work on the Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Doncaster, and Leeds depots will follow in 2023.
