Harviestoun

Harviestoun Brewery has poured two of its bestselling craft brews into cans.

The Scottish brewer’s 4.8% abv Schiehallion and 4.2% abv Bitter & Twisted ales are being rolled into 80 Tesco and 95 Sainsbury’s stores across Scotland this week, followed by a UK-wide rollout in the next few months (rsp: £6/4x330ml).

The range extension marks Harviestoun’s first foray into cans and followed the brewer’s “most successful year to date”, said MD Toby Knowles, adding turnover had increased 50% since 2013 on the back of growing international demand and UK distribution wins, including Majestic Wine.

“The last 12 months have been an incredibly exciting period of growth for Harviestoun and our canning programme is a symbol of our commitment to asking ‘what is next for craft beer?’” he said.

The company recently invested £400,000 in new equipment in a bid to double production, increasing capacity to the equivalent of 4.5 million pints a year, said Knowles, adding it had also employed seven new staff, taking its head count to 21.
