Tesco has rolled out seasonal Cornish new potatoes to 100 stores across Cornwall and the South West.

The 750kg bags (rsp: £1.50) are supplied exclusively by Branston, and the listing will be extended nationally to around 800 stores in July at a promotional price.

Branston said it was expecting strong demand as shoppers placed more focus on provenance, and the listing followed a successful growing season and bumper crop.

Tesco will also be listing a limited quantity of newly harvested Ayrshire and East Lothian Maris Peer new potatoes, sold loose, at 130 stores in Scotland from next week. Supplied by Greenvale, they will retail at £2.49/kg.
