Danone has changed its Danio pots once again

Danone has tweaked the packaging of its Danio Greek-style yoghurts for the second time in less than a year following the transfer of production from Poland to France.

Danio yoghurts will in future be produced in Danone’s Pays de Bray factory in France, having previously been made in Bierun, Poland.

The move has necessitated a change in the pot format used for the strained yoghurt.

The new pots are narrower and Danone has replaced the foil lid with a smoother foil-laminated version, although the weight remains 160g.

“We are moving factory to give us more flexibility in our supply chain,” said a Danone spokesman.

The changes come after Danone was forced to change Danio packs earlier this year to remove the descriptor ‘Greek yoghurt’ after Total Greek Yoghurt owner Fage took out a court injunction.

Separately, New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra this week confirmed it was locked in a dispute resolution process with Danone, one of its customers, following Fonterra’s precautionary recall of whey protein concentrate in August. Danone claims it suffered a loss in sales after recalling infant formula which contained Fonterra whey.
