Cheddar Cheese Grubs

Cheddar Cheese Grubs: The flavour is not too bad at all. Think emaciated Wotsits (cheesy and teethcoating). Cheese grubs would definitely be my first choice - if I were starving and insects were my only viable source of protein that is. 5/5

Toasted Weaver Ants

Toasted Weaver Ants: These Thai green curry flavoured ants are like the crumbs left in a bag of pork scratchings. Until I crunch open the abdomen of an eggladen queen that is. They have the texture of one of those not-quite-cooked scratchings. Yuk. 3/5

Flying Grasshoppers

Flying Grasshoppers: They might look like terrestrial prawns, but these BBQ flavoured grasshoppers don’t taste a thing like their maritime cousins. In fact, they don’t taste of anything. The texture’s horrible and the wings stick in your throat. 2/5

Toasted Silkworm Pupae

Toasted Silkworm Pupae: They look awful. The prospect of putting one of these shrivelled little Thai green curry avoured grubs into my mouth was truly hideous. But in fact the taste isn’t too bad at all. It’s like a crunchy curry and could catch on. 4/5

Mole Crickets

Mole Crickets: Bring me a bucket. The thick exo-skeleton of this little burrower makes it a mouthful. If you do manage to force it down your throat it will threaten to come back up for hours. Tastes disgusting despie the BBQ seasoning. 1/5
