Walkers asks Tesco shoppers to do it a British flavour

Walkers crisps has this week resurrected its hugely successful Do Us A Flavour promotion - as a Tesco exclusive.

Almost five years after the original campaign encouraged 1.2 million shoppers to submit ideas for a new crisp flavour, Walkers owner PepsiCo is giving consumers the chance to win £5,000 and see their own crisps rolled out to Tesco stores.

The new promotion has been tied in with Walkers’ recent shift to UK-sourced flavouring ingredients - one of which must be used in entries - and has been renamed Do Us A Home-Grown Flavour.

The deadline for submissions is 16 April, when three will be selected to be put to a public vote on Facebook. The winning flavour will be announced in May and will be on Tesco shelves in August.

Walkers said the original Do Us A Flavour campaign - which brought submissions including Cajun Squirrel and ultimate winner Builder’s Breakfast - contributed to an 8.4% hike in sales in 2009.
