Yoplait Dairy Crest, Dairy Crest's fresh dairy products joint venture, has announced plans to close its Yeovil factory by June 2005, with the loss of approximately 260 jobs.
The site currently manufactures own label dairy desserts for retailers.
The company has decided to focus its future activities on the development of branded products, such as Petits Filous, Frubes and Yop, which, it says, continue to show good growth.
The closure of Yeovil is expected to result in an exceptional cost in the region of £1.5 million in 2004/05, representing Dairy Crest's share of the
closure costs.
