Spar wholesaler AF Blake-more has appointed Mike Fitton as retail sales director for Spar distribution, replacing Elwyn Davies who has taken up the position of retail development director.

Fitton joins the company from Musgrave Budgens Londis, where he has worked for the past 11 years.

His previous role was as head of retailer support with Budgens, where he was responsible for more than 100 stores in the south of England. In his new job Fitton will be responsible for recruitment and services to the division's 505 independent retailer accounts and will report to managing director Dennis Evans.

Fitton said: "AF Blakemore is a good family- run business that doesn't have many of the complications associated with a

plc. It also seems that

there is a lot of freedom to express yourself.

"Dennis Evans has done a lot of work in restructuring the sales team over the past few months, and I see my role as bringing all of this together to ensure that we provide the best possible service to our retailers."
