Logistics provider Gist said turnover and adjusted operating profit were in line with last year despite the loss of a contract to move general merchandise for Marks and Spencer.

For the three months December 31, Gist said operating profit was flat at £6.1m on turnover that dipped to £78.2m from £78.4m last year.

Gist noted that it continues to handle M&S’ chilled and ambient food distribution with increased volumes from its Simply Food format. It has also added new business through Carlsberg-Tetley, Budgens and Ocado.
