Owen set to retire 

Morrisons has announced that executive director Roger Owen is to retire in October next year, coinciding with his 60th birthday. Owen joined the company in 1975 and has responsibility for site acquisition, construction, estate management, refrigeration/services and energy management. The reallocation of his duties will be announced closer to his departure, said Morrisons. 

FSA director for Wales 

Steve Wearne has been appointed as Food Standards Agency director for Wales. Wearne replaces Joy Whinney, who is taking a career break. He has been a member of the Civil Service since 1990, holding posts within the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food, the FSA and the Senior Civil Service. 

New role for Wylie 

United Biscuits has appointed Jessica Wylie as senior brand manager for savoury biscuits. Wylie has been at the company for five years, most recently as trade communications manager. Responsibility for UB's trade communications will pass to Nick Stuart. 

Saxton due to leave 

Cardpoint chief operating officer Paul Saxton has decided to leave the company at the end of the year following the merger with Payzone-owner Alphyra Holdings, due for completion on 5 December. Cardpoint claims to be the market leader in the independent cash machine sector and operates 6,000 ATMs in the UK. 

Brown joins Liberty 

Liberty Wines has created the new role of director of national accounts for Andy Brown as part of its continued expansion. Brown joins from the Lion Nathan Wine Group, where he was general manager UK & Europe. He was previously national accounts manager for Thierry's and a wine buyer for Thresher.
