The new range launches in Sainsbury’s from 4 January with a supporting £1 promotion for three weeks

Arla has expanded its Arla Protein brand with a new range of 200g pudding puts that are high in protein, low in fat and contain no added sugar.

The range launches in Sainsbury’s from 4 January with a supporting £1 promotion for three weeks before expanding into Asda from 20 February and Morrisons on 27 March.

The Protein Puddings will be available in three flavours: chocolate, salted caramel and hazelnut latte. They had been designed for “consumers who need an indulgent snack, without having to compromise on taste and calories,” according to Ellie Van der Werff, brand manager at Arla Protein UK.

The puddings are also lactose-free, low-calorie and have added vitamin D and magnesium, in addition to 20g of protein.

This launch comes following a standout year for Arla in the yoghurt and pot desserts category, which the brand credited to its Arla Protein lineup.

In 2022, the brand saw a 26% rise in value while volumes were also up by 19.9% – well outperforming the category-wide 8.2% decline, according to The Grocer’s recent Top Products report.

“Our research suggests a strong desire from the UK market for protein puddings – with this range tapping into the permissible indulgence territory,” said Van der Werff. “It also allows the brand to move into a new evening occasion, thus introducing the Arla Protein UK brand to a wider audience.”
