Robert Wiseman Dairies has been criticised by Devon farmers for moving production of its Definitely Devon clotted cream to Scorrier in Cornwall.

Production shifted to Cornish company Rodda's which has bought the brand and is in the process of taking it over on 4 April after the closure of Wiseman's Okehampton dairy last month.

Angry Devon farmers told local website www.thisiscornwall.co.uk that Wiseman had "no idea" about the importance of Devon's history of clotted cream production.

A Robert Wiseman spokesman said packs of the cream had carried a 'made in Scorrier' sticker since the relocation of production, on the advice of Trading Standards.

Rodda's said it was using up the Definitely Devon packaging to avoid wastage but was "looking to rebrand the product to reflect the fact it is no longer made in Devon."
