Plaid Cymru in July announed plans to develop a national food strategy for Wales. It has pledged to build food security and literacy, strengthen food supply chains and use the public plate to develop the Welsh food and drink industry – so can the party pull it off?
Policy: Plaid Cymru’s goals
• How do Plaid Cymru’s plans differ to Labour’s ambitions for the Welsh food & drink industry?
• What role will public procurement play?
• How does the government plan to support Welsh farmers and suppliers?
Action: Making changes
• With no majority, how likely is Plaid Cymru to see its plans come to fruition?
• How likely is Wales to align with England and Scotland’s DRS plans?
• How does Llyr Gruffydd plan to work with supermarkets to boost local producers?
Resilience: Food security
• How has the recent drought impacted yields from Welsh growers?
• What preparations are suppliers making to improve their resilience?
• How could the government better support farmers and suppliers?
Innovations: We will profile two new products or ranges. We need launch date, rsp, and a hi-res picture of each.
