Fairy, Daz, Bold and Lenor products have been replaced with smaller pack sizes in Morrisons

Procter & Gamble has shrunk a raft of products across its portfolio of household brands.

Numerous SKUs across the consumer goods giant’s Fairy, Daz, Bold and Lenor brands have been replaced with smaller pack sizes in the supermarkets over recent weeks, research by The Grocer using Assosia data shows.

Fairy Original All In One Dishwasher Tablets Lemon 58-packs, for instance, have been swapped for 52-packs in Morrisons at a higher price – up from £8 to £10 [12 w/e 2 August 2022].

Fairy Non Bio Pods Sensitive 38-packs, meanwhile, have been replaced with 36-packs, rising from £6 to £8 in the retailer.

At the time of writing, the new 36-pack format was also currently on sale in Tesco and Asda, priced at £8 and £7, respectively.

Daz All-In-1 Pods 54-packs have been swapped for 40-packs but risen from £7 to £7.50 in Morrisons. The new packs at the time of writing were also being sold in Asda, priced at £7.50.

Bold All-In-1 Washing Capsules Sparkling Bloom & Yellow Poppy 57-packs, meanwhile, have been swapped for 54-packs in Morrisons, at the same price of £10.

Lenor Fabric Conditioner Ruby Jasmine Scent 50 Washes 1.75L have been replaced by 48 Washes 1.68L packs in the retailer, at the same price of £6.

At the time of writing, the new 1.68-litre format was being sold in Asda at £2.70. The old 1.75-litre format, however, was still on sale at Sainsbury’s for £3.75, and at Tesco for £3.25.

The Grocer has approached P&G and the supermarkets for comment.

It comes after the US consumer products group last month warned of another year of “significant” headwinds, after it raised prices last year to mitigate soaring input costs.

However, P&G certainly isn’t the only fmcg giant cutting its pack sizes as costs surge.

Mars recently shrunk the size of its Maltesers sharing pouches and some of its Twix multipacks, for instance, while Unilever has shrunk the size of its Magnum multipacks, with retail prices rising in some cases.
