Kellogg’s has expanded its Crunchy Nut cereal lineup with a new Salted Caramel flavour.

The NPD, which has hit shelves at Asda (rsp: £2.99/375g), will roll into wholesalers and independent retailers in March 2023 (rsp: £3.29/460g).

This is the first time Kellogg’s has adapted its “biggest cereal brand” since its launch in 1980.

Inspiration for the range extension had been driven by the “unfaltering popularity of salted caramel”, said Kellogg’s.

“Salted caramel was the perfect pairing for the brand and we can’t wait to see what people think,” said Kellogg’s UK&I senior brand activation manager Rui Frias.

“With the huge fanbase the cereal has, we are always looking for ways to innovate and excite in the category.”

A digital advertising campaign is set to accompany the launch, with ads running across YouTube, Instagram and Facebook in February 2023.

The launch comes after a legal challenge by Kellogg’s to the government’s clampdown on promotions of products high in fat, sugar or salt was rejected by the High Court in summer.

Crunchy Nut SKUs are classified as HFSS, but Weetabix launched its own non-HFSS Nutty Crunch cereal to battle Kellogg’s in January.
