Carte D’Or has teamed up with Cornetto to launch Sundae, a “unique” ice cream with a customisable crunchy topping.
Debuting in Chocolate and Strawberry, the innovation (rsp: £4.50/750ml) features soft-serve Carte D’Or ice cream with a separate, sealed-off section, containing crunchy Cornetto wafer and chocolatey pieces.
It is billed as a “first of its kind”, offering shoppers everything they need to create an ice cream sundae in one pack.
The patented pack design meant consumers could adjust the amount of topping they added to their ice cream to suit their own taste, said Carte D’Or.
It created “a new at-home frozen treat experience, particularly for younger, soft-serve-loving consumers”, Carte D’Or added.
“Carte D’Or has always been synonymous with quality and indulgence, and our new Sundaes range is a perfect example of how we’re combining this long-standing heritage with innovation to bring something truly different to the ice cream aisle,” said Sue Carruthers, marketing manager for desserts at The Magnum Ice Cream Company.
“The combination of two iconic ice cream brands, Carte D’Or and Cornetto, makes us confident that it will excite existing brand fans and new shoppers alike to drive incremental growth for the category.”
The launch, which is Carte D’Or’s first under Unilever spin-off The Magnum Ice Cream Company, will be backed by a “significant marketing investment”, spanning out-of-home and in-store advertising.
