Chilean wine brand 35 South has landed in UK grocery for the first time.

The VSPT wine group-owned brand’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is in both Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stores (rsp: £7.50/75cl). Its Merlot 2024 has also landed in Morrisons (rsp: £7.50/75cl), while its Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is in Sainsbury’s (rsp: £7.75/75cl).

35 South’s Cabernet Sauvignon was “a bold yet approachable red, with notes of ripe berries and a smooth finish”, according to the brand.

Its Merlot, meanwhile, offered “aromas of plum, red cherry and black cherry with a touch of sweet spice”.

Finally, its Sauvignon Blanc had “notes of grapefruit and tangerine along with soft, herbal and mineral hints”.

The wines take their name from the 35th parallel south, which passes through the VSPT winery in Molina,  where they are made.

To support the launch, 35 South has unveiled a multichannel PR and social media campaign featuring chef Liam Dillon, of The Boat in Lichfield.

The ‘Postcards from Home’ push would “align the brand with real life moments”, said 35 South.

“35 South is a wine from our home in Chile, to be enjoyed wherever Brits feel it,” said James Murch, UK sales manager for VSPT. “Our goal this autumn is to show up for shoppers in those moments that matter most – be it with friends and family having a roast or taking in the sunset. The ‘Postcards from Home’ campaign seeks to show these moments, and secure 35 South’s place within them.

“Our investment is firmly squared at supporting our first UK listings and customers, demonstrating that 35 South is a brand to back. This is just the start. We’re looking forward to building on our roots in the years ahead.”
