Morrisons has hailed the generosity of its customers and colleagues after it smashed a £5m fundraising “milestone” for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Through campaigns like Paint It Yellow, as well as Every Pack Gives Back, Morrisons has reached the “significant moment” 15 months into its three-year partnership with the end-of-life charity.
The two initiatives saw hundreds of promotional products in yellow packaging rolled out across Morrisons shelves, with a percentage of each sale going to the charity. Collectively they raised £1m in a single month.
Shoppers had raised a further £90,000 by donating their More Card loyalty points through a feature added to the More Card App in April 2025. An additional 5,650 Marie Curie collections were hosted at Morrisons stores across the UK.
Morrisons colleagues added £120,000 to the pot through their own fundraising efforts. The amount has been match-funded by Morrisons.
The supermarket has set the goal of raising £15m for the charity by October 2027.
“We’re extremely proud of our colleagues and customers who’ve helped us to raise an incredible £5m for our charity partner, Marie Curie,” said Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiéh.
“We began the partnership with a shared ambition to improve end-of-life care for local communities and to know we’ve already helped fund more than 136,000 hours of expert nursing care and support for families at the end of life across the UK is truly special,” he said.
“We’re committed to doing what we can for the reminder of our partnership to ensure more people receive the end-of-life care they deserve,” Baitiéh added.
To mark the milestone, Morrisons and Marie Curie have collaborated to launch a short film starring one of Morrisons’ community champions, Jacqueline Watson, in which she shares her experience of the charity’s support for her grandmother, who passed away in April.
Morrisons is hoping to raise the total further through a programme of in-store fundraisers throughout the spring. The period covers Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal, from 23 February to 8 March.
“On behalf of everyone at Marie Curie, I want to thank every Morrisons colleague and customer for their support,” said Matthew Reed, Marie Curie chief executive.
“From taking part in campaigns like the Great Daffodil Appeal to tackling challenges like our Beat the Trails trek series, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who is helping us close the gap in end of life care,” Reed said. “Together, we are enhancing Marie Curie hospices, providing more nurses to deliver expert hospice care at home, and making moments that matter at the end of life.”
