Sanjay Bahadur is responsible for the execution of M&A transactions at Nestlé

Nestlé executive VP and head of business development Sanjay Bahadur will retire in December after more than 40 years at the business.

Bahadur joined Nestlé in 1982 and has held various roles across India, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Turkey and China during his tenure.

In his current position, Bahadur is responsible for portfolio management, the identification and execution of M&A transactions, as well as venture funds, external partnerships and licensing agreements.

Nestlé CEO Philipp Navratil said: “On behalf of everyone at the company, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sanjay for his many contributions to Nestlé.

“He consistently demonstrated uncompromising integrity and a humble approach to leadership, fostering trust and collaboration across the organisation.

“We wish him all the best for this next chapter.”

Following Bahadur’s retirement, the M&A function will be overseen by Nestlé CFO Anna Manz.

Bahadur’s retirement is the latest in a series of significant changes to Nestlé’s senior leadership team.

Navratil was appointed CEO of Nestlé in September, succeeding Laurent Freixe, who was fired following an investigation into a “romantic relationship with a direct subordinate”.

Nestlé chairman Paul Bulcke stepped down from his role in the same month. He was due to step down as chairman at the company AGM in April next year, but left the role early following shareholder concern over governance at Nestlé.

Investors had told The Financial Times that Bulcke’s handling of the Freixe scandal had given them concerns over the chairman’s decision making, with some calling for him to step aside immediately rather than waiting for the AGM.
