Posh coffee specialist Grind has teamed up with Pokémon to launch an exclusive range of hot beverages, accessories and apparel in celebration of the entertainment franchise’s 30-year anniversary.
The Grind x Pokémon limited-edition drop includes refillable coffee tins featuring Pikachu, Eevee and Mew, three of Pokémon’s most beloved characters. Reusable coffee cups, t-shirts and baseball caps are also available, individually and in a collection bundle, online at Grind.co.uk (prices from £14.95).
The Shoreditch coffee brand has also given its RTD iced coffee cans a Pokémon-centred makeover. Iced Caramel Latte featuring Pikachu is being sold through Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Co-op, while its Eevee-themed Iced Oat Vanilla Latte is available exclusively from Waitrose.
“Pokémon has been a cultural touchstone for 30 years,” said David Abrahamovitch, founder & CEO of Grind. “Partnering with them during this celebratory year feels like the perfect way to create something that both embodies the joy, imagination, and creativity of Pokémon and yet is also uniquely Grind. This collaboration has been a longtime request from our customers, and we can’t wait to see the reaction.”
Launched in 1996 as a trading cards game, Japan’s Pokémon has grown into one of the most popular and successful entertainment franchises in the world, appearing across the likes of TV, cinema, video games and mobile apps.
Pokémon’s partnership with Grind follows a string of sold-out collaborations by the coffee challenger with pop culture touchstones including Hello Kitty, Snoopy, Green Day and 1990s cult movie Clueless. The brand has also teamed up with fmcg players such as BrewDog, Baileys and Surreal.
