Sacla’ UK boss and fmcg industry titan Clare Blampied has stepped down after more than 30 years at the business’ helm.
Blampied has been succeeded by fmcg veteran Ed Culf, who has over 30 years’ industry experience across multinational and family-owned food businesses.
Having cut his teeth at Nestlé and Diageo, Culf spent 12 years at General Mills, culminating as UK marketing director, where he helped grow leading brands such as Nature Valley, Old el Paso and Häagen-Dazs.
He joined Mizkan Europe as marketing & innovation director in 2016, where he supported Branston Pickle and Sarson’s.
Most recently, Culf was general manager of plant-based confectionery business Prodigy Snacks for five years.
Blampied joined Sacla’ in 1991 and is credited with the creation and development of both the business and the pesto category in the UK.
In 2016, Blampied was awarded an OBE for services to the food industry in the New Year’s Honours List, coinciding with the business’ 25th anniversary.
“With an exciting brand relaunch underway, this is the right moment for Clare to step down and pass on the baton,” said Sacla’.
Culf said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Sacla’ at such an energising moment for the business.
“With the future brand relaunch gathering pace, there is a real sense of renewal and opportunity, and I’m excited to help unlock the next chapter of growth.”
Sacla’ has also announced that long-serving finance & operations director Allison Harper will retire later this year.
Harper will be succeeded by Sacla’ UK’s current head of finance, Brian Nash, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity across the UK team.
