Skipworth, who has been COO since January 2009, replaces Paul Neep, who is moving to the role of non-executive chairman following 14 years at the helm of the company.
Skipworth will spearhead the next phase of the company's growth strategy, promoting the Ardbeg and Glenmorangie brands.
"We are grateful for the contribution Paul Neep has made," he sad. "He was instrumental in a major restructure and investment programme that leaves the company and brands in a strong position."
The Glenmorangie Company has also promoted international marketing and communication director Marc Hoellinger to marketing strategy director for Moët Hennessy Wines and Spirits.
