Gu chocolate & vanilla cheesecake twin-pack

Nisa will feature offers on Gü desserts and wines as well as a steak meal deal

Nisa is leveraging the scale of the Co-op to spread the love this Valentine’s Day with a raft of offers.

The independents’ buying group will make the most of 14 February falling on a Thursday this year, with a big focus expected on dining in.

Nisa shoppers will be able to buy Co-op’s Irresistible Rump steak (£6 for a twin-pack), Mash Direct beer battered chips or sweet potato fries with Heritage cherry tomatoes and mushrooms on the side, for less than £10.

A range of Gü desserts and wines will be sold separately at “competitive” prices. And it will capitalise on gifting with a £10 cross-category deal of wine and chocolates comprising I Heart Prosecco and Thorntons With Love chocolate boxes.

Other premium boxed chocolates on offer will include a selection from Lindt and Ferrero as well as deals on Maltesers Truffles, Cadbury Milk Tray and Nestlé Dairy Box.

Retailers will be provided with a range of PoS, shelf-edge labels and gondola ends.

Deals will be in stores from 21 January with Valentine’s meal offers available from 10 February.

Nisa and the Co-op are in the process of aligning deals and promotions, which a spokeswoman said would “obviously assist in terms of scale”.

But it would take “another “few promotional periods until we get there just because of obligations to suppliers”, she added.

“As Valentine’s is a mid-week event this year, the evening meal occasion is key for retailers with couples likely to wait to go out until the weekend. We’re encouraging Nisa partners to make a feature of this and highlight their fresh meal deal,” said Nisa campaign and media partnerships manager Regan Howard.

“It’s also the first time in the year that we can get shoppers to trade up after the long month waiting for payday after Christmas and so our cross-category deal for wine and chocolate should entice shoppers to splash out a few extra pounds on gifts for the love of their lives.”
